Pastor Donald L. Johnson

Pastor Donald L. Johnson currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and is considered by many in the area as one of the Mid-South’s most consecrated and soul-stirring ministers. In 1994, Pastor Johnson, who originally hails from Kansas City, MO, moved to Memphis with his wife, Rhonda, and their children to become the pastor of our historic church.

Pastor Johnson has earned both a Bachelor of Religious Arts in Theology and a Master of Religious Arts in Theology from the Jacksonville Theological Seminary. His education coupled with his dynamic preaching style has put him in high demand nationwide as a revival and conference speaker.

Pastor Johnson is also a graduate of the inaugural Memphis Clergy Police Academy, a collaborative partnership and educational initiative in which members of the cloth undergo a five-week, ten-hour course designed to educate faith-based leaders of law enforcement and crime related issues that have the potential to impact their congregations.

In addition to these duties, he also serves as the Team Chaplain for the Memphis Grizzlies. Pastor Johnson is gifted with a charismatic personality, and his love and care for people shows. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he believes that ministry should meet the needs of believers, at all ages and stages of life. Under divine inspiration, he developed the mission for the church – “We Grow People” – and it is evident in his teachings and resonates throughout the congregation.
