The Reverend Dr. George Augustus Jones Jr. is the pastor of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.

A native of Wilson, North Carolina, Jones is the oldest of 6 children born to the late Reverend Dr. George Augustus Jones, Sr. and Maggie Jones.

Converted at the age of 9 at Malabys Crossroads, Knightdale, NC, Dr. Jones preached his first sermon at age 17 in 1969. He is a 1970 graduate of Garner Senior High School, Garner NC. Dr. Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from St. Augustine’s College Raleigh, NC in 1974. He earned the Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Seminary, Wake Forest, NC (1977). He earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana (1990).

Dr. Jones’ ministerial career includes the outstanding pastorate at: Elevation Baptist, Raleigh, NC (1971- 74);Wake Chapel Baptist Raleigh, NC. (1973-90); St. Paul Baptist, St. Albans, West Virginia (1990-95); and Calvary Baptist, High Point, NC (1995-2000); Faith Missionary Baptist, Raleigh, NC (2000- Present).

In addition to his pastoral duties, Dr. Jones has served as the former president of the Wake Missionary Baptist Congress of Christian Education (2003 – 2007) and the Raleigh Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (2003 – 2005). He currently serves as the First Vice Moderator of the Wake Missionary Baptist Association.

Dr. Jones is author of the book: Contrary Winds: Biblical and Practical Prescriptions For Pastors Facing Adversities – 2011. He is also Adjunct Professor at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, N.C.

Dr. George Augustus Jones Jr. is married to the former Ida Mae Tucker of Raleigh, NC. They have 3 children: Reverend Jeremy, Sirena, and Letitia. They have 6 grandchildren: Mia, Joshua, Faith, Trevon, Joniah, and Siridian.
